As I was researching William Fox, I began to realize the great number of soldiers that sacrificed their lives for America, but fell short of making it to the war front. William, along with 761 other soldiers aboard the S.S. Leopoldville tragically perished by U-Boat attack and like Fox, most of their lives were never properly memorialized or recanted. In my research I had an extremely difficult time finding any sort of information of William Fox before his death, and it saddened me knowing he lived 34 whole years and nothing to remember him by until his death. This silent hero project really opened my eyes to the loss of war, not only in death, but in the lives the soldiers led before the military. I am ending this project with a greater sense of appreciation and solemn respect for the men and women that have fought for our country and still do.

The resource I utilized the most was the IDPF file provided by Mr. Wagner. I attempted to use many of the other research databases for the national military records and ancestry for genealogy, but unfortunately with the little information there was on William Fox to begin with, I found no other information that was not already provided in the online file. With that being said, the file was extremely detailed and provided an array of documents that gave me the baseline information I needed to research William Fox and his military affiliations.
